Job Purpose

The Operations Manager requires an individual to be a key member of the management team and to assist the General Manager in implementing their daily/weekly/yearly targets. The position requires the individual to oversee all Al Ain Adventure activities so a passion for all things adventure is essential.
The ideal candidate will have a clear leisure hospitality focus to delivery the highest standard of guest relations. The position requires the individual to relate to all members and staff and guests offering advise and instruction. The position may require a candidate to participate in activity instruction, perform rescues where appropriate, and maintain a high level of physical fitness and first aid skills.

A strategic management strategy is key to provide the optimal experience for the guests yet remain respected by all members of staff.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Under the direction of the facility General Manager, the Operations Manager will assist with all oversee all Al Ain Adventure activities;
  • Understand and demonstrate company's core values and customer service standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity, confidentiality, and loyalty to both staff and guests.
  • Promote and maintain the utmost integrity and the highest calibre of customer service and respect to all guests and staff.
  • Be familiar with all the facilities at the Al Ain Adventure including locations and hours of operation.
  • Ensure the corporate policies are followed as outlined in the company's Policies and Procedures manual.
  • Maintain detailed awareness of Al Ain Adventure operation at all times and comply with security policies and procedures in order to secure company assets.
  • Guide the department support staff with all assistance, direction and training needed in order to maximise staff potential and achieve optimal results.
  • Support the general manager to ensure water runs and water play areas are maintained at all times, over see repair shop, continuous risk management assessment, ensure all environment details are executed (temp, lighting, music), execute daily safety protocol practices, testing pre and post operational procedures, execute emergency procedures policies and testing requirements.
  • Comply with safety procedures including the use of required safety equipment and identify unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Implement Health and Safety practices as designated by the facility.
  • Perform health and safety briefings to guests on a daily basis.
  • Provide and maintain a safe, clean and enthusiastic learning environment for guests.
  • Ensure the safety of all guests.
  • Ensure safety off all instructors and staff.
  • Provide constructive feedback to instructors and staff to progress their guest relations.
  • Provide constructive feedback to guests to help them improve their surfing/kayaking/rafting/climbing skills.
  • Inspect and ensure equipment is safe and used properly by guests and staff.
  • Anticipate problems and seize opportunities to prevent injury.
  • Respond effectively under pressure.
  • Treat all first aid situations with sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • Identify and follow-up with surf pool safety issues appropriately.
  • Complete all paperwork (first aid reports, risk assessments etc.) in a timely manner while demonstrating attention to detail.
  • Participate actively in training sessions to ensure skills are maintained at or above the accepted level.
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership and foster the same in the entire management team.
  • Punctual for work, training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Maintain current qualifications throughout the term of employment.
  • Plan and organize specialist events by implementing effective event management.
  • Control budget expenditures through proactive and regular cost reviews.
  • Research and propose operational ideas for the gift and pro shop.
  • Thank guests for their patronage and invite them to return again.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the General Manager.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised / reputed university mandatory.
  • (Experience in a similar work culture could be considered in lieu of education to a High School Diploma).
  • Business Management / Administration degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Five to Eight years, as Operations Manager in a similar adventure/water based activity and or the Hospitality / Retail Industry.
  • Previous experience in working in a customer service environment preferred.
  • Lifeguarding & Risk Management.
  • Ropes Course operations
  • Competent surfer with the passion to develop.
  • Experience of white-water kayaking, rafting and related activities.
  • Knowledge and experience in other related adventure sports.
  • Able to swim 500 meters in a pool in 10minutes or less.
  • Ability to implement approved water rescue methods.
  • Ability to recognize emergencies and to take effective courses of action.
  • Must be able to work effectively with peers, staff members, and regulatory agency personnel.
  • Capable of acting as an integral member of the senior Management Team.
  • Posses a strong business ethics attitude and understand the nature of confidential matters.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong computer skills to include effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
