School Compliance Officer

Job Description
The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the school operates in compliance with Ministry of Education (MOE) regulations, applicable policies, and internal procedures. The role will support the school in maintaining strong governance and compliance standards while protecting students, staff, and the school from legal, safety, and reputational risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain an up-to-date compliance register covering education regulations, child protection, health & safety, data privacy, inclusion, finance, and procurement requirements.
- Develop, review, and update school policies and procedures, ensuring they remain compliant and are effectively communicated and followed by staff.
- Monitor safeguarding and child protection procedures, including safe recruitment practices and incident reporting, in coordination with the Safeguarding Lead.
- Oversee health, safety, and security compliance, including fire drills, building safety checks, first-aid readiness, transportation, and canteen standards.
- Ensure the secure handling of student and staff data and coordinate appropriate responses to any data protection or privacy incidents.
- Prepare the school for Ministry inspections and external audits, conduct internal compliance reviews, and monitor corrective actions in line with the School Self-Evaluation Plan.
- Coordinate and monitor mandatory staff compliance training, including safeguarding, data privacy, and code of conduct.
- Manage complaints and whistleblowing processes, ensuring confidentiality, fairness, proper documentation, and timely follow-up.
- Prepare and submit monthly or termly compliance reports to the Principal and ODA, highlighting compliance status, identified risks, and required actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Law, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in education administration, compliance, audit, quality assurance, or a related area.
- Good knowledge of national education regulations and child protection standards.
- A relevant compliance or safeguarding certification is preferred.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to identify, address, and challenge non-compliance appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to follow up on corrective actions and compliance requirements.
