Financial Accountant - Investment firm

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting functions which includes recording of revenues, expenses, fixed assets, accruals, prepayments. The candidate will be supporting financial management functions including performance reporting, data analysis, budget preparation and control in line with Acceptable Accounting Practices.

The role also includes audit liaison, UAE Corporate Tax / VAT and other regulatory compliances.

• Recording of all daily / monthly transactions in the ERP system.
• Processing of revenue, expenditure, recording fixed assets and department budgets, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry.
• Establish, maintain a system of proper controls over the GL structure suitable level of reconciliations, proofing etc; that are necessary to maintain appropriate confidence in the financial database of the company;
• Perform necessary reconciliations on a monthly / quarterly basis which includes Bank reconciliation / intercompany reconciliation;
• Support Director of Finance in preparation of periodic financial analysis, providing necessary data for conducting proper and timely review of financial performance of investments.
• Preparing commentary on results of analysis for the management
• Review and validation of financial matters required for consolidation, cash flows etc.
• Assist in preparation of annual budget / forecasts for the Senior Management. Periodic reporting on budgets/actual variance analysis.
• Assist in expense management through appropriate expense reports, variance analyses & supporting schedules.
• Continuously enhancing finance policy and procedures. Implement / drive ongoing automation initiatives to automate tasks / processes.
• Principal coordinator with external auditors for the completion of the annual audit for the combined Financials of the Portfolio. Including preparation of annual financial statements complying with the applicable reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with administrators on the financial statements of SPVs that are held by the Group and updating it in the ERP systems.
• Coordinate with tax / VAT consultants for annual filing of Tax return and quarterly filing of VAT returns.
• Any other task as delegated by the Director of Finance.

• Chartered Accountants / CPA / CMA / ACCA
• Masters Degree or equivalent in Business Administration / Finance,

• Financial Accounting and Operations functional competence.
• Good knowledge of the principles and practices of General Ledger.
• Adequate knowledge of accounting systems and software (Microsoft Dynamics).
• Deep understanding of International Accounting Standards (IFRS)
• Knowledge of business consolidations / combinations.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting for public / private investments through funds and SPVs structures

Years of Experience

4 - 6 years of experience (with 2-4 years in Big 4 audit firm)

• 2 4 years of experience in big 4 audit firm
• Prior experience in GL accounting, reporting and budgeting
• Experience in process reviews (including identification of risks, best practices and process optimization)
• Preferred industry experience of working in investment firm / asset management firm / private family offices or covering investment firms in audit firm
