Currently House of Shipping is recruiting for a Assistant Manager - Cross Stuffing & Logistics on behalf of its client in Dubai.
Job Purpose
To manage and optimise cross stuffing operations, container logistics, and sales functions by ensuring seamless coordination between shipping lines, warehouses, transporters, and internal teams. The role focuses on maximising container utilisation, reducing turnaround times, safeguarding cargo integrity, driving business growth, and ensuring compliance with international standards and client requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership- Manage end-to-end cross stuffing and container logistics operations, including planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement SOPs and KPIs to enhance operational excellence.
- Forecast container flows to optimise resource allocation (manpower, equipment, warehouse space).
- Introduce process automation or digital tools for workflow and reporting efficiency.
- Maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, carriers, and freight forwarders. Ensure timely container availability and resolve issues such as equipment mismatch, scheduling, and detention/demurrage.
- Coordinate slot bookings, equipment repositioning, and ensure vessel cut-off compliance.
- Supervise warehouse and transport teams to ensure safe, timely cargo movement, stuffing, and de-stuffing.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and client-specific warehouse procedures.
- Monitor loading/unloading cycles to reduce dwell time and improve throughput.
- Oversee preparation of accurate documentation including loading plans, manifests, customs declarations, and packing lists.
- Ensure compliance with customs, port authority regulations, and international trade standards. Implement audit trails and cargo movement risk mitigation measures.
- Identify and develop cross stuffing and logistics business opportunities in collaboration with the sales team.
- Engage with clients to offer tailored solutions and close deals.
- Maintain client relationships for retention and upselling.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and pricing strategies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop logistics and sales teams to enhance skills and performance.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and training programmes.
- Present periodic reports on container utilisation, turnaround times, cost metrics, revenue, and incidents.
- Conduct root cause analysis of operational challenges and implement improvements.
- Provide accurate forecasts and contribute to budgeting and strategic planning.
Education and Experience Requirements :
- Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Shipping, or related field.
- Additional certification in logistics or shipping management preferred. Experience:
- Minimum 7 years experience in logistics, container operations, or cross stuffing, with exposure to sales/business development.
- Proven track record in managing port, warehouse, and carrier coordination.
