Job Purpose
The Academic Success Centre (ASC) supports RIT Dubai students in navigating academic challenges at RIT. We offer academic counseling, skills development courses, and a wide range of student support resources.
The academic success counselor is required to coach undergraduates through academic difficulties, deliver engaging courses, and help build a stronger ASC. This is a hands-on role that balances direct student support with course facilitation and centre operations.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Counseling & Support- Conduct individual counseling sessions helping students with academic planning, time management, and study strategies.
- Monitor and follow up on students facing academic difficulties — including those on performance alerts or academic suspension.
- Develop personalized action plans with students to help them recover academically
- Deliver the RIT365 course to first-semester students, covering academic skills, university transition, and life skills.
- Facilitate study skills workshops for at-risk students, adapting content to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Develop and continuously improve course materials, lesson plans, and educational resources.
- Maintain accurate student records, session logs, attendance reports, and academic progress documentation.
- Prepare regular reports on student performance trends, centre usage, and program effectiveness.
- Organize and support ASC events such as orientation days, study groups, exam prep workshops, and awareness campaigns.
- Promote ASC services to student body via social media, digital newsletters, and campus outreach.
- Partner with faculty and departments to identify students in need of early intervention and academic support.
- Contribute to the design and improvement of ASC programs, aligning initiatives with evolving student needs.
- Support the continuous growth of the ASC as the team scales from one to two counselors.
- Perform any other related tasks as assigned / needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant (internal and external) regulations including QHSE requirements using RIT policies and procedures as appropriate.
Job Qualifications:
- An Accredited Master's degree in Education, Psychology or equivalent.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written is essential.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in academic counseling, teaching or a student support role.
- Prior experience working closely with university-age students is highly valued.
- Exposure to course facilitation, workshop delivery, or curriculum design is a plus
- Knowledge of Forecasting and Analytics Tools
- Ability to work under pressure, multi-tasking and meet deadlines
- Accuracy and attention to details
- Self-driven, motivated, supportive, team player and transparent.
