Environment, Health & Safety Officer
Canadian University Dubai (CUD) is seeking a qualified, proactive, and detail oriented HSE Officer to support the University’s commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence across its campus operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a safe and compliant working and learning environment for students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors.
Qualifications- Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. A relevant professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or an equivalent health and safety qualification is strongly preferred.
- Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, risk assessment methodologies, emergency preparedness, incident investigation, and workplace safety standards. Excellent communication, reporting, training, and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively across academic and administrative functions.
- Proficiency in preparing safety documentation, maintaining compliance records, conducting inspections, and delivering awareness sessions is essential. Familiarity with higher education, commercial, or multi use facilities is preferred.
- Candidates should have relevant professional experience in health, safety, and environmental management, ideally within an educational institution, large organization, or complex operational environment. Experience in conducting audits, inspections, emergency drills, incident investigations, and compliance monitoring is required.
- Experience in developing safety procedures, coordinating corrective actions, liaising with regulatory bodies, and supporting organizational health and safety initiatives will be highly valued.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and practices across the University.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards.
- Monitor campus operations, facilities, laboratories, workshops, events, and contractor activities to promote safe working conditions and environmental responsibility.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, prepare reports, identify root causes, and follow up on preventive and corrective measures.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including evacuation planning, drills, first response readiness, and awareness campaigns.
- Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, training sessions, and safety awareness programs for employees, students, and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, permits, certifications, safety training, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to support inspections, audits, licensing requirements, and continuous compliance improvement.
- Promote a positive safety culture across the University by encouraging proactive reporting, accountability, and shared responsibility for health, safety, and environmental performance.
- Support sustainability and environmental initiatives that align with institutional priorities and responsible campus operations.
