Job Description

Job Purpose
  • The ELV Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring of all Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems within the facility. These systems include but are not limited to CCTV, Access Control, Public Address, BMS, Fire Alarm. The role ensures system integrity, compliance with industry standards, and minimal downtime while supporting ongoing facility operations.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of robust electrical systems and solutions that meet project specifications, operational requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all electrical engineering activitiesfrom conceptual design to commissioningare executed efficiently, safely, and within budget.
  • Provide technical expertise and innovative engineering solutions to support complex projects, optimize system performance, and resolve electrical challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
  • Maintain strict adherence to industry codes, safety regulations, and best practices to safeguard personnel, assets, and the environment.
  • Continuously evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and engineering methodologies to enhance system reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed technical documentation, reports, and presentations to inform decision-making and maintain project transparency.
Roles, Responsibilities, Duties
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ELV systems, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and specialist vendors for system upgrades, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and calibration of ELV systems in accordance with applicable codes and FM best practices.
  • Supervise and verify installation or modification works carried out by contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation including schematics, system logs, service reports, and asset registers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance plans and SOPs for all ELV systems.
  • Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and system handovers.
  • Respond to emergency callouts related to ELV systems and support root cause analysis during (working hours / non-working hours / weekends).
  • Ensure all ELV systems comply with local regulations, authority requirements, and client specifications.
  • Support integration of ELV systems with wider building management systems (BMS/Central Management Platform).
  • To Manage and Evaluate the Specialists Service Providers (Subcontractors) Performance (Fire Alarm, Building Management System, Security System, AV/BGM, Media Screen, EV Chargers, IoT Sensors)
  • Capable to assist the Specialists Service providers in building System Graphics and End Users Interface Platforms.
  • Capable to work on different Shifts
  • Review detailed electrical designs, schematics, and specifications in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Conduct technical assessments, feasibility studies, and risk analyses to support design decisions.
  • Manage and supervise installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical systems to guarantee quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless project coordination.
  • Identify and resolve electrical issues promptly, providing innovative and practical engineering solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, reports, and progress updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure strict compliance with relevant electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Support procurement activities through precise specification and evaluation of electrical materials and equipment.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend continuous improvements and optimize system performance.

Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification or equivalent accreditation is highly desirable.

Experience and Skills:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of proven experience in ELV electrical engineering within Facilities Management.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical design software such as AutoCAD.
  • Familiar with standards such as NFPA, SIRA, BS, or local authority codes (e.g., Dubai Civil Defense).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead electrical engineering projects from design through commissioning.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international electrical standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, NEC).
