Wood is recruiting for a Development Geoscientist
Wood is recruiting for a Development Geoscientist to join its UAE Business Unit focusing on coordinating a multi-functional team in developing and maintaining the drilling rig schedule for a major onshore brownfield project in Dubai, UAE on a 5/2 work schedule.
This role is a full-time onsite position in Dubai, UAE with travel requirements.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an international client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as supply chain, construction, and commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.
Projects include both greenfield and brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client's energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

- Coordinate multi-functional team in developing and maintaining drilling rig schedule on a weekly basis to generate well paths consistent with contractual drilling specifications to achieve wellbore objectives
- Preparation of pre-drill documents including detailed drillwell prognosis charts and formation evaluation program
- Conduct detailed real-time log correlations of actively drilling deviated and horizontal wells to ensure stratigraphic intervals are properly identified and well trajectories are adjusted as needed
- Liaison between well-site geologists and office team at all stages of drilling projects. Attend drilling rig calls and meetings
- Ensure all aspects of well-site geological operations are properly undertaken to ensure drillwell objectives are safely met
- Ensure geological well data are compiled in a timely manner, properly distributed, and placed in appropriate digital well files
- Use updated geological model and interface with reservoir engineering team for drilling opportunity and recommend perforation for well completion program; using well correlation, facies and properties map, updated historical production, PLT and RST
- Integrate geological and surveillance production data to generate drilling and workover opportunities (artificial lift proposal and water shutoff)
- Prepare new well and special workover post analysis
- Observe well performance and recommend optimization program to increase oil production and water cut control in production
- Contribute to future appraisal and data acquisition planning for undeveloped reservoirs (drilling locations, major uncertainties, data requirements)
- Mentor Iraq staff on geologic concepts, geophysics, and geomodel interrogation

Expected:
- Master's degree or equivalent in geological sciences
- 15+ years work experience in petroleum geology and geophysics
- Carbonate geology and geophysics background highly preferred
- Previously conducted integrated field and reservoir studies working closely with geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams
Skills:
- Advanced petroleum engineering skills for geologists
- Communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in written and spoken English
- Strong presentation skills
- Experience mentoring less experienced staff
- Previous experience in mature producing fields
- Knowledge of carbonate sequence stratigraphy and advanced reservoir characterization concepts
- Familiarity with well completion and workover geology and production support
Systems:
- Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Strong Petrel geophysics and model interrogation experience
- Petrophysics: experience in log analysis using Techlog software
