The BMS Engineer plays a key role in maintaining the uptime and efficiency of data center operations by overseeing the effective operation of all power, environmental, and fire protection systems, ensuring optimal conditions for IT equipment at all times.

Key Accountabilities:

• Monitor and operate the data center infrastructure management systems in the NOC room, including but not limited to BMS, EMS, SCADA, DCIM, and FAS. Ensure all power, cooling, HVAC, and other systems function within specified parameters.
• Ensure the data center infrastructure management systems are fully operational and free of communication errors. Report any system health issues or communication errors immediately and coordinate with relevant teams to resolve and restore functionality.
• Analyse data from infrastructure systems to proactively identify and address potential issues before they escalate into major problems.
• Conduct regular checks on all data center management systems in the NOC room to maintain system and equipment reliability and accuracy at all times.
• Oversee the data center infrastructure management system network and monitor network infrastructure, including system servers, workstations, switches, routers, and other critical hardware, to ensure reliable NOC/BMS operations.
• Ensure compliance with data center operational control guidelines and report any inefficiencies that may affect performance, reliability, or sustainability.
• Adjust system parameters to maintain optimal conditions, with guidance and approval from the Operations Engineer or Site Operations Manager. Maintain detailed logs of any changes made using company-assigned tools and registers.
• Verify that the NOC room setup is correct, including functional systems, active alarm prioritization methods, and video wall configuration as per set standards.
• Maintain a tidy, clean NOC room with proper cable management to ensure a safe work environment.

• Ensure the escalation matrix is available, well-understood, and accurate to facilitate effective incident management and response.
• Monitor network performance and availability, responding promptly to alerts and issues to maintain system reliability and performance.
• Communicate clearly and promptly with internal teams and external vendors regarding system status, issues, and resolutions to ensure everyone is informed and aligned.
• Coordinate with operations engineers and technicians for on-site troubleshooting and repairs, facilitating timely resolution and ensuring proper monitoring of the functioning of the systems as per the sequence of operation.
• Collaborate with IT and engineering teams for patch and security updates or to troubleshoot network-related issues, ensuring system integrity and security.
• Respond promptly to alerts and alarms in accordance with facility standard operating procedures, communication processes, and emergency response plans to ensure swift action and resolution.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation of NOC/BMS operations, including system performance data, system reports and records to ensure comprehensive record-keeping.
• Maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and maintenance activities within the company assigned tools and registers.
• Ensure sustainability trackers are updated as per the requested frequency, reflecting the data center's commitment to environmental responsibility.
• Monitor weather alerts consistently and trigger updates to the respective teams and Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems as needed.
• Update shift handover forms accurately and promptly within the company's assigned system to ensure complete information handover and smooth transitions between shifts.
• Prepare and review detailed reports on system performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Assist the Site Operations Manager with NOC/BMS operation audits, provide accurate responses to questions and provide requested information, data, records, logs and trends related to data center operations and environmental controls.
• Act as the first responder to alarms, alerts, warnings, errors, and incidents, takes the lead in notifying and escalating these events according to the agreed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for NOC operations.
• Respond to alarms and alerts in real time, diagnosing and addressing issues promptly to minimize impact on operations.
• Immediately report all alarms to the appropriate stakeholders through the CAFM system, adhering to the timelines specified in the SOP for NOC operations, maintaining accurate and comprehensive records.
• Assist operations engineers and technicians in addressing on-site incidents, providing guidance on system status, and following directives to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
• Document and report incidents and outages thoroughly; provide updates on resolution steps as per the instructed frequencies in accordance with the SOP and Incident Response Plan.
• Take immediate action to mitigate risks to data center operations, ensuring that issues are addressed promptly to prevent operational disruptions.
• Escalate issues to relevant teams as necessary and follow up to ensure that they are resolved effectively and in a timely manner.
• Takes lead in the NOC coordination and oversees disaster recovery solutions and backup procedures, ensuring that all recovery protocols are in place and function correctly.
• Ensure adherence to operational policies, procedures, standards and instructions and ensure that work is carried out in a safe, controlled and consistent manner.
• Ensure complete familiarity with the data center Sequence of Operation (SOO) Runbook and is able to suggest improvements or to detect SOO documentation non-conformances, enabling accurate verification of operations and providing precise guidance during maintenance activities or incidents.
• Engages and provides regular training and development to remain up to date with data center operations, incident notification, and response procedures, as well as to stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Adhere to all relevant Khazna safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment for yourself and all occupants.
• Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suited to the specific work environment and activities at all times.
• Promptly report any safety observations or near misses to ensure timely corrective actions and enhance overall safety.
• Ensure proper maintenance of all NOC/ BMS servers, workstations, screens, and other equipment by coordinating with the relevant stakeholders to keep them in optimal working condition.
• Monitor and record utilities usage and waste to support effective resource management and sustainability efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or Higher National Diploma in Engineering (3 years) or equivalent.
• Certifications such as Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or Certified Data Centre Specialist (CDCS)
• BMS-specific certifications or training.

Minimum Experience:

• Minimum 8+ years of proven experience in data center BMS operations and management or mission-critical facilities.

Job-Specific Skills (Generic/ Technical):

• Proficiency in monitoring and operating BMS/EMS/SCADA platforms.
• Must be available to work on a rotating shift basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
