Position Summary
The Teaching and Learning AI Specialist (TLS) plays a key role in advancing the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning at AUS. The TLS will report to the Director of the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL).The TLS will lead, and support initiatives focused on AI adoption in pedagogy, content development for the AI Hub, training faculty in the effective and ethical use of AI tools, and contributing to the design and implementation of AI-related certification programs.
This role requires a deep understanding of emerging AI technologies in education, a commitment to faculty support, and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners to enhance the universitys instructional practices and digital teaching ecosystem.
Job Responsibilities- Lead the implementation and support of AI-powered instructional technologies across CITL programs and broader university initiatives.
- Coordinate AI pilots, including Blackboard AI tools, AI Tutor, and other exploratory platforms, in close collaboration with IT and academic departments.
- Lead the design and delivery of CITLs AI Certification Program, including content development, assessment, and faculty onboarding.
- Serve as the primary technical lead and content curator for the AI Hub, ensuring it remains a dynamic, accessible, and evolving platform for faculty resources, best practices, and collaborative tools.
- Foster partnerships with edtech companies, AI developers, and industry stakeholders to integrate cutting-edge tools into the universitys digital learning ecosystem.
- Support faculty with the creation of AI-enhanced instructional materials, including recording and editing content.
- Develop and deliver training and workshops on ethical, responsible, and pedagogically sound uses of AI in education.
- Track user feedback, evaluate the effectiveness of AI and digital tools, and contribute to iterative improvement based on analytics and instructional outcomes.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in educational technology, instructional design, or faculty development, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Proven experience in integrating AI tools in teaching and learning environments.
- Experience leading or contributing to technology-enhanced teaching projects, digital content creation, or academic innovation initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver training, workshops, or consultations for faculty or academic staff.
- Strong understanding of AI applications in education, including ethical and pedagogical considerations.
- Ability to translate technical tools into practical teaching strategies for diverse academic disciplines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally with faculty, IT, and administrative units.
- Strong project planning and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver under limited supervision.
- Skilled in instructional design, adult learning principles, and curriculum enhancement.
- Capable of facilitating training sessions and one-on-one consultations with professionalism and clarity.
- Demonstrated commitment to innovation, continuous learning, and reflective practice.
- Proficiency with learning management systems (preferably Blackboard), including AI-enhanced features (e.g., AI Design Assistant, automated feedback, grading tools).
- Experience with AI-based educational tools such as chatbots, intelligent tutoring systems, and learning analytics dashboards.
- Familiarity with video production tools and platforms (e.g., Jalinga, Panopto, Camtasia) for flipped and blended learning content.
- Competence in managing digital resource hubs or content management systems (e.g., SharePoint, WordPress, or similar platforms).
- Working knowledge of generative AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude) and their use in academic settings.
- Basic data analysis skills and ability to interpret metrics for improving tool adoption and instructional impact.
