Job Description

Job Purpose:

This position is with Khalifa University in partnership with a leading government entity. The Teaching Excellence and Innovation Manager is responsible for leading Teaching & Learning Center and drive institutional teaching excellence by delivering faculty development, promoting innovative pedagogies and digital learning, and monitoring the impact of teaching initiatives on student success across Academic Partners.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of the Department's strategy, as well as annual business plans.
  • Contribute to the development of the Department's policies and procedures, in line with the overall business objectives of the University, ensuring they promote leading practices and excellence.
  • Contribute to the development and management of the Department's budgets and report back on a timely basis to ensure that divergences are addressed promptly.
  • Operate and manage centralized Teaching & Learning Center services and its Academic Partners.
  • Develop and implement annual plans for faculty development aligned with institutional academic priorities.
  • Establish standards and frameworks for teaching excellence, curriculum design, and instructional quality.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate faculty development programs focused on teaching excellence and student-centered learning.
  • Coordinate workshops, seminars, and certifications on teaching methods, assessment, and educational technologies.
  • Provide one-to-one and group consultations to faculty on curriculum design, course planning, and classroom practice.
  • Promote innovative pedagogical practices aligned with academic strategy and outcomes.
  • Support instructional design for programs and courses, including learning outcomes, assessment strategies, and alignment with the organization.
  • Lead and coordinate digital learning initiatives (e.g., blended/online learning, use of LMS tools, multimedia resources).
  • Pilot and scale innovative teaching projects in collaboration with academic units.
  • Define and track key student success metrics linked to teaching and learning interventions (e.g., course success rates, engagement indicators).
  • Analyze teaching-related data and feedback to assess the effectiveness and impact of faculty development and innovation initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for academic leadership on teaching quality, innovation outcomes, and areas for improvement.
  • Build a community of practice around teaching excellence by facilitating cross-AP sharing of best practices, resources, and success stories.
  • Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
  • Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment and practice to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
  • Provide coaching, guidance and mentoring as required to enhance the internal capabilities of the team and ensure the achievement of established objectives and plans.
  • Recommend appropriate training courses as per the pre-determined training needs, evaluate their effectiveness, and monitor their results.
  • Carry out performance appraisals for subordinates according to planned schedules and recommend necessary actions as per the applied practices.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with subordinates to ensure that priorities are clear and workflow is running smoothly.
  • Follow-up on employees administrative affairs such as vacations, leaves and other administrative and related affairs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Adaptability, proactivity, willingness to take on additional responsibilities; skilled in relationship building and teamwork.
  • A minimum 8 years of experience.
