Job Description:
Mapa Group is seeking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our Head Office-based Commercial and Contracts Department in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing centralized commercial and cost management support across a portfolio of infrastructure projects, including major roadworks and metro systems within the UAE.
This is a strategic, office-based rolenot embedded within a single projectfocusing on independent cost analysis, commercial risk review, and high-level reporting to senior management. The role plays a vital part in ensuring robust cost control, accuracy in forecasting, and informed decision-making during both the execution and tendering phases of multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and tender documentation in accordance with project specifications and procurement strategies.
- Measure, value, and validate executed works to ensure alignment with contract terms, scope, and quality benchmarks.
- Review, analyze, and certify interim payment applications and prepare final accounts upon project completion.
- Assess and substantiate variations, change orders, and contractual claims with comprehensive supporting documentation.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes by collaborating closely with technical, procurement, and planning teams.
- Liaise effectively with subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders on all commercial and contractual issues.
- Ensure meticulous record-keeping, cost tracking, and preparation of periodic commercial reports for senior management.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of cost management systems and commercial procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in quantity surveying and cost control within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of FIDIC contract conditions and practical exposure to procurement and post-contract administration.
- Proficient in industry-standard measurement tools and software (e.g., CostX, CANDY) and advanced in MS Excel.
- Demonstrated analytical, numerical, and reporting skills, with an ability to handle complex commercial data and multi-project environments.
- High attention to detail and capability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with UAE construction practices and regulations is highly desirable.
- Professional certification such as MRICS or equivalent is considered a significant advantage.
