Job Description

Role Purpose

Lead the engineering strategy, architecture, and delivery of complex technology solutions within a strategic business domain. Accountable for defining the technical vision, ensuring architectural integrity, and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high performing products and solutions that support business growth and customer success.

The role combines engineering leadership with hands on architectural oversight, acting as the senior technical authority for the domain while building and developing high performing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned to business objectives.
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams across software, data, AI, cloud, and platform disciplines.
• Establish engineering standards, governance, and best practices.
• Drive delivery excellence, quality, reliability, and operational performance.
• Build engineering capability through workforce planning, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
• Ensure effective resource allocation and delivery prioritization.

• Serve as the lead architect and technical authority for the domain.
• Define target architectures, technology roadmaps, and technical standards.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable.
• Review and approve major technical designs and architectural decisions.
• Drive architectural consistency across programmes, products, and platforms.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.
• Lead architecture governance and technical design reviews.

• Partner with executive leadership, product teams, delivery teams, and customers to shape technology strategy.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Act as a trusted advisor on technology investment decisions and technical risk.
• Represent the organization in senior customer and partner engagements.

• Lead resource estimation and capacity planning across programmes and initiatives.
• Ensure optimal allocation and utilization of engineering resources to maximize productivity and delivery outcomes.
• Monitor team performance, workload distribution, and delivery efficiency to ensure sustainable execution.
• Align resource planning with strategic objectives, budgets, and evolving business priorities.

• Identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation, cloud, and emerging technologies.
• Drive continuous improvement and engineering innovation.
• Ensure technology decisions support long term business objectives and product strategy.
• Stay current with rapidly evolving technology trends, particularly in AI, cloud, data platforms, and modern engineering practices, ensuring the organisation remains competitive and future ready.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
• 15+ years of technology experience with at least 5 years in a senior engineering leadership role.
• Significant experience designing and delivering enterprise scale software platforms and solutions.
• Strong background in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or chief architect responsibilities.
• Proven experience across cloud platforms, distributed systems, data platforms, AI, and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience leading large engineering teams within complex, fast paced environments.
• Strong understanding of security, scalability, resilience, and performance engineering.
• Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, customers, and executive leadership.
