Program Manager- Data Governance

Job Description

Role Overview:

Lead the enterprise Data Governance Program for a major Financial Services organization, ensuring regulatory compliance, data quality, and a culture of stewardship. Drive strategy, align stakeholders, and oversee framework implementation from policy to metadata management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategy & Leadership: Define and execute data governance strategy; report to CXO stakeholders; manage risk and ROI.
• Framework Implementation: Establish policies, roles, standards, and processes; deploy data cataloging, metadata, and lineage tools.
• Project Management: Plan, prioritize, track progress, and report status; identify and mitigate risks; manage resources.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate Data Governance Council; collaborate with business, IT, compliance, and auditors.
• Compliance & Risk: Ensure adherence to regulations (GDPR, CCPA, BCBS 239, AML/KYC); monitor data security and sharing.
• Metrics & Reporting: Define KPIs; deliver regular program updates, audit reports, and performance analyses.
• Team Leadership: Mentor data stewards and analysts; promote best practices and governance awareness.

Technical Expertise:

• Data pipelines, storage, quality, and security principles
• ETL/ELT tools, MDM, data warehousing, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's (CS, Data Management, Business); MBA or equivalent preferred
• 10+ years in program management; 6+ years in data governance within financial services
• Strong knowledge of governance frameworks and Financial Services compliance
• PMP/Prince2, DGSP/CDMP certifications a plus
