We are now seeking an exceptional Head of Design & Estimation to lead our talented Design & Estimation department and drive excellence in every bid and design we deliver.
In this high-impact leadership role, you will spearhead the end-to-end design, planning, and estimation process for complex, large-scale IT Infrastructure projects. Guiding a skilled team of designers and estimators, you will ensure we consistently deliver precise, innovative, cost-competitive, and future-ready solutions that exceed client expectations and secure major project wins.
Principal Accountabilities
Estimation, Costing & Bidding- Manage, coordinate, and monitor the estimation team to generate accurate and timely cost estimates for IT Infrastructure systems.
- Review tender documents, BOQs, specifications, and drawings in detail to prepare precise cost estimations and proposals, ensuring errors are eliminated on the first submission.
- Direct and coordinate project estimation activities to ensure accurate pricing, scope definition, and commercial compliance.
- Review and approve all project proposals, budgets, and cost estimates for ELV and IT projects.
- Identify missing or unclear information that may impact timely completion; alert Sales Account Managers, seek clarification from clients, consultants, and contractors, and request extensions when required to ensure accurate and competitive submissions.
- Obtain competitive market quotations for products and services, applying accurate internal and external manpower rates, overheads, and cost elements to meet budgeted margins.
- Ensure bid competitiveness through the use of current market rates and effective vendor negotiations.
- Develop and implement IT Infrastructure design strategies aligned with client requirements, project specifications, and industry standards.
- Ensure all design documents and technical drawings are accurate, comprehensive, and fully compliant with approved specifications.
- Provide technical expertise across:
- CCTV systems
- Access control systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Structured cabling
- Audio‑visual (AV) systems
- Network and communication infrastructure
- Other ELV and IT systems as required
- Serve as the technical point of contact for escalations related to design or estimation issues.
- Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, and Project Management teams to align on technical requirements, budgets, timelines, and execution constraints.
- Engage with clients, consultants, and contractors to gather project requirements, clarify scopes, resolve technical queries, and address design or budget concerns.
- Support Sales and Business Development teams with technical presentations, customer meetings, and proposal development.
- Ensure a structured handover of all awarded projects to the Execution Team, including complete documentation, data, and clarifications to enable smooth project delivery.
- Provide ongoing technical support to Sales and Execution teams throughout the project lifecycle as required.
- Maintain accurate and well‑organized records of all estimations in approved formats (soft and hard copies), clearly identifying revisions for easy reference and retrieval.
- Prepare quarterly management reports covering current jobs, estimation status, and forecasted opportunities.
- Implement and maintain estimation workflows that support auditability and traceability.
- Conduct training sessions for team members on new systems, tools, and emerging technologies.
- Monitor team performance and ensure continuous improvement in estimation accuracy and technical capability.
- Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, products, and solutions within the IT and ELV sectors.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies into design and estimation practices to maintain a competitive edge.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with suppliers, OEMs, and technology partners to access innovative and cost‑effective solutions.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Direct Manager, as required to support business objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a closely related discipline.
- A Master's degree in a relevant technical or management field is considered an advantage.
- Relevant industry certifications in IT infrastructure, ELV systems, project management, or security technologies are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 15 years of hands‑on experience in IT Infrastructure systems design, project estimation, and end‑to‑end project management, with exposure to complex, large‑scale, and mission‑critical environments.
