Job Description
We are seeking a results-oriented and commercially savvy Senior Buyer to manage end-to-end buying operations for GMG's Sports Common Division. The candidate will be responsible for leading seasonal product selections, optimizing vendor relationships, analyzing market trends, and aligning buying strategies with business objectives.This role demands a high level of collaboration across planning, merchandising, and logistics teams, with strong proficiency in SAP and Power BI to support data-driven decisions and performance tracking.
Key Responsibilities
Buying Strategy & Execution- Lead the full buying process across two seasonal cycles, ensuring product selections align with consumer demand and brand positioning.
- Analyze historical data, market trends, and customer insights to drive assortment planning and category growth.
- Define buying budgets and maintain optimal stock levels to ensure profitability and product availability.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors aligned with product quality and pricing strategies.
- Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, focusing on cost efficiencies, lead times, and service levels.
- Track supplier performance and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and GMG standards.
- Collaborate with planning and merchandising teams to build strong product assortments that meet financial targets.
- Monitor inventory flow and take corrective action on overstock, understock, and slow-moving SKUs.
- Coordinate with logistics and supply chain partners to ensure seamless inbound processes and product availability.
- Use SAP ERP and Power BI to generate dashboards, monitor performance KPIs, and support strategic decisions.
- Conduct regular business reviews, providing actionable insights on sales, margin, and vendor efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in cost, product mix, and inventory health.
- Work closely with marketing, store operations, and finance teams to ensure alignment on product launches, promotions, and budget adherence.
- Participate in business planning and forecasting sessions, contributing market intelligence and demand insights.
Qualifications and Skills
Education- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Retail Management.
- Postgraduate certification in Procurement, SAP, or Power BI is an added advantage.
- 8+ years in procurement and buying, with 5+ years in the retail fashion or sports apparel industry.
- Proven track record in vendor management, pricing strategy, and inventory optimization.
- Experience in GCC retail market preferred.
- Proficiency in SAP ERP (MM module), Power BI, and Advanced Excel.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating trends, performance, and stock planning.
- Excellent negotiation and organizational skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate insights into action.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a high-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Effective communicator with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Ability to present performance reports and procurement strategies using Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail with a mindset of continuous improvement and value creation.
