Experience of design management will be an advantage

Key roles and responsibilities:

• Lead the coordination process with other disciplines.
• Assist the Resident Engineer in performing the contractual duties on site.
• Processing of contract documents and assist contract administration.
• Develop, modify and review production drawings and construction documents.
• Correct and update design documents.
• Serve as an architectural resource for the Design department.
• Provide resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinate application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
• Advise the project manager of any technical aspects of the architectural works that may affect construction progress, quality and the like.
• Hands-on in monitoring the interior architectural works for conformance with the provisions of the contract documents and the procedures manual.
• Review and process all shop drawings and architectural technical submittals.
• Answer RFIs related to interior and architecture.
• Review construction submittals from project inception to close-out.
• Review contractor's installation method statements.
• Review contractor's shop drawings against the design (tender) drawings for compliance with the design intent and return to project manager with appropriate comments/approval.
• Review contractor's material proposals against specified technical performance requirements and advise the project manager on the appropriateness of the proposals.
• Review contractor's proposed subcontractor(s) associated with the engineering works from a technical standpoint.
• Monitor procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
• Undertake general project site observation/inspection of the works for contractor's adherence to the approved shop drawings and consultant's specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.
• Lead the snagging and de-snagging process with an aim to progress the works to completion through this process.
• Attend project, site progress and any related technical meetings as directed by the project manager.
• Prepare draft site/engineer's instructions, relating to the project, as required and issue to the project manager.
• Provide advice to the project manager in regard to any variation costs that may be claimed by the contractor during the course of the works.
• Oversee architects and inspectors for all architectural work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
• Ensure that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction supervision works and monitor them for improvement.
• Collaborate with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
• Review and interpret discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and correct technical execution of the work.
• Perform works inspection requests and material inspection requests as required to support juniors.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Technical skills and experience required:

• Degree in Architecture or related field.
• Minimum of 8-10 years postgraduate experience and a minimum of 5 years of similar work experience on large projects.
• Strong technical knowledge with the ability to resolve design issues on site.
• Computer proficiency is required; must be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp or 3D MAX, Photoshop, MS Project or Primavera, PowerPoint and basic office suite.
• Good knowledge of the building codes.
• Authority registration is preferred.
• A professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity.
• UAE driving license.
