Assistant Financial Controller

Job Summary

Our client, specializing in the commodities trading industry, are looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to support financial reporting, P&L analysis, and accounting operations in a fast-paced trading environment. The role involves managing month-end close, ensuring accurate financial control over transactions, and enhancing reporting through systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI.

Salary - AED 8,000 - 10,000

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance roles
• Strong experience in P&L analysis, accruals, and financial reporting
• Experience with commodity trading, shipping, or logistics companies is highly preferred
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a strong advantage
• Proficiency in Power BI and advanced Excel
• Good understanding of IFRS, internal controls, and audit processes
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail

Key Responsibilities

• Review monthly P&L and identify key drivers of variances (price, volume, freight, storage, FX)
• Support management with performance insights and margin analysis
• Develop and maintain financial dashboards (Power BI)

• Monitor financial impact of commodity contracts and ensure accurate accounting treatment
• Align accounting entries with trading activities (purchases, sales, shipments)
• Support reconciliation between physical and financial positions

• Post and review accruals, provisions, and journal entries
• Process and validate invoices (AP/AR)
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end close
• Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and procedures
• Maintain strong audit trail and support internal/external audits
• Improve processes and strengthen financial controls

• Work with Microsoft Dynamics 365 for financial operations
• Develop and enhance reporting using Power BI
• Support automation and AI-driven improvements in reporting and processes

• Experience in agri-commodity or trading environments
• Exposure to contract accounting and cost allocation (freight, storage, etc.)
• Familiarity with automation tools or AI-driven reporting
