Overview
Due to the continued success of our GEMS Wesgreen International School, Sharjah, we are looking to recruit a Head of Mathematics Teacher to start in August 2025.
As a middle leader and therefore part of the Middle Leadership Team, the post holder will be expected:
- To articulate a vision for the Mathematics Department in the context of the school's ethos and vision
- To lead, manage, co-ordinate, maintain, develop, monitor and evaluate the school's curriculum provision in mathematics for the whole school.
- To make a full contribution to the processes of planning, resource management, policy development and implementation across the school through the effective leadership and management of all aspects of the work of the Mathematics Department.
- To make a full contribution to ensuring high expectations and standards in all aspects of school life
- To work flexibly in supporting the day-to-day organisation and management of the school
- To be accountable to the appropriate senior or extended leader and ultimately the Principal/CEO
- To contribute to the school's Performance Management programme where appropriate
There are five aspects which enable the key purpose to be achieved:
- Promoting and ensuring student development, progress and well-being
- Leading teaching and learning and managing policy within the context of the Mathematics Department
- Leading and managing people and teams
- Managing resources
- Promoting and representing the Mathematics Department

Responsibilities
Successful candidates will need to:
- Hold a BEd or bachelor's degree in mathematics with PGCE / PGDE or equivalent
- Have the ability to share exemplary teaching practices
- Demonstrate a creative and enthusiastic approach, both inside and outside the classroom
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills to work closely with colleagues, students and parents
- Have a proven track record of providing outstanding learning and teaching
- Have aspiration to work in a world-class school with real prospects for enhancing their career
- Be willing to make a positive contribution to our school community and culture through active engagement in our extra-curricular programme and community-based events
