Head of Casualty and Financial Lines
About the role:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Head of Casualty & Financial Lines you will be responsible for driving the strategic development, management, and growth of the casualty and financial lines portfolio. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong industry background to optimise portfolio performance, enhance product offerings, and build lasting relationships with cedents and reinsurance partners existing reinsurance portfolios to meet evolving market demands.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management:
- Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve business objectives for the casualty and financial lines portfolio.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes, ensuring strategies remain adaptive and competitive.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the casualty and financial lines team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Provide guidance and training to enhance the team's technical and leadership capabilities.
Product Development:
- Oversee the design, development, and enhancement of casualty and financial lines reinsurance products.
- Ensure all products align with client needs, market demands, and regulatory standards.
Risk Management:
- Monitor portfolio risk exposure and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure compliance with internal and external guidelines.
Business Development & Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with cedents and reinsurance partners.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the portfolio.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure all products and operations comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Prepare and present regular reports on portfolio performance, including financial results, risk assessments, and market analysis.
Financial Performance:
- Meet yearly budget targets set and agreed by senior management.
- Drive sustainable growth and profitability across the portfolio.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role within the reinsurance industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven expertise in portfolio management, risk management, and technical reinsurance knowledge.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of casualty and financial lines products and market dynamics.
- Risk management expertise and analytical capabilities.
- Effective portfolio management and strategic planning skills.
