The director of rooms is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the rooms division, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining high service and operational standards. This role includes managing the front office, housekeeping, guest services, and any other related departments, driving revenue opportunities, and fostering a culture of excellence in hospitality.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance guest satisfaction and revenue generation
- Ensure all departments adhere to hotel brand standards, policies, and procedures
- Train, mentor, and inspire a team of rooms division professionals
- Analyze guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance the guest experience
- Collaborate with sales and marketing to maximize room revenue and occupancy rates
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and sanitation regulations
- Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and exceptional service
- Ensure seamless check-in and check-out experiences for guests
- Monitor and maintain quality standards in rooms and public areas
- Collaborate with other departments to meet guest needs and expectations
- Monitor and manage budgets, forecasting, and financial performance of the rooms division
- Implement and maintain efficient operational processes and technology solutions
- Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in hospitality
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in rooms division management, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards
- Proficiency in hotel property management systems (PMS) and related technology
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to work irregular hours and weekends as needed
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management

About the Company
Hyatt was founded by Jay Pritzker in 1957 when he purchased the Hyatt House motel adjacent to the Los Angeles International Airport. Over the following decade, Jay Pritzker and his brother, Donald Pritzker, working together with other Pritzker family business interests, grew the company into a North American management and hotel ownership company, which became a public company in 1962.In 1968, Hyatt International was formed and subsequently became a separate public company.
