Director of Information Technology
Job Description
To provide strategic IT insights and guidance to Department and Business Managers, aligning the IT roadmap with the Groups overarching business strategy for the assigned Business Units. This includes shaping the IT direction to effectively support evolving business goals
Responsibilities:
Strategic IT Planning
Develop and maintain cost-effective, three-year IT strategies for assigned Business Units, aligned with the Groups overall business and IT direction. Incorporate ongoing initiatives, emerging technology trends, and input from service providers.Formulate and implement actionable plans to support these strategies.
Annual Work Programme Development
Support Business Unit Managers in defining their annual work programmes. Advocate for their priorities during Steering Group discussions to ensure balanced and aligned planning.
Dynamic Prioritization & Relationship Management
Continuously refine priorities based on evolving business needs. Maintain strong, professional relationships with Business Units, benchmarked against industry best practices.
Service Quality Assurance
Define and uphold quality and service standards for production applications. Ensure solutions are both effective and cost-efficient.
Negotiate service level agreements with providers and secure Business Manager buy-in. Monitor performance to ensure service improvements and cost reductions as outlined in the Service Delivery Agreement.
Process Improvement & Project Governance
Initiate corrective actions to enhance service delivery and reduce costs. Lead major projects through Steering and Working Groups, ensuring governance and accountability.
Guide Business Units through requirement analysis, testing, acceptance, and implementation of IT solutions. Monitor project timelines, quality, and costs, initiating corrective actions as needed. Evaluate development processes against standards and recommend improvements.
Enhancement Management & Product Planning
Manage minor enhancements within budget constraints. Develop product plans identifying internal and third-party solutions that complement the Groups portfolio.
Partner with Department Heads to strengthen product marketing strategies. Set measurable performance objectives for direct reports and conduct timely reviews.
Advise Business Managers on relevant technology trends and their strategic implications, supporting informed decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience- Education: Bachelors degree in information technology or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in senior management roles within large-scale organizations (1,000+ users).
- Expertise: Proven track record across diverse IT service functions, encompassing both technical and business domains.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the delivery of complex business systems and IT services.
