As we continue to grow, we are seeking a seasoned Vice President (VP) of Risk to join our leadership team and manage Yellow Door Energys overall exposure to risk with a particular focus on investments. This critical role will oversee four key risk areas:
- Credit risk
- Investment risk
- Enterprise risk
- Strategic risk
The VP of Risk is also the custodian of the Investment Protocol, ensuring its consistent and compliant implementation across the business.
Working cross-functionally, the VP of Risk will provide high-level analytical and strategic support to Business Development and other departments, and report directly to senior stakeholders including the Investment Committee and Board.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential- MSc/MA in Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline
- 10+ years experience in credit, risk, and/or corporate banking, ideally within financial services or infrastructure sectors
- Prior experience in PPA risk assessment and legal review from a risk standpoint
- Deep understanding of credit risk processes, investment protocols, and portfolio monitoring
- Experience in the renewable energy industry
- Proven track record of balancing enterprise risk with commercial objectives
- Experience in developing rating models and risk scoring
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage
- Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification or equivalent
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Investment Risk Oversight- Manage Yellow Door Energys overall exposure to investment, credit, enterprise, and strategic risks
- Review PPAs and identify credit and counterparty risk exposures
- Lead the development of investment, liquidity, and counterparty risk analyses
- Engage in high-level strategic discussions with the Investment Committee and Board
- Maintain and enforce the Investment Protocol across the business
- Conduct credit risk assessments for long-term offtake agreements
- Collaborate with Business Development, Legal, Finance, and Technical teams
- Monitor the asset portfolio and pipeline to identify changing risk profiles
- Ensure policy compliance and manage non-performing assets
- Design and implement a comprehensive risk register and proactive risk framework
- Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and foster a strong risk culture
- Conduct internal audits, customer reviews, and industry-specific assessments
- Develop and enhance risk policies, contingency plans, and fraud prevention strategies
- Provide strong leadership to the Risk team across Dubai HQ and regional offices
- Build a performance-oriented, high-integrity team culture
- Drive automation, scalability, and process efficiency
- Stay informed of regional regulatory trends and align business accordingly
