About the Role
A prestigious Dubai Government Entity is seeking a seasoned AssociateCommercial Director Emirati only, to lead and oversee commercial and business development functions across major infrastructure and construction projects. The successful candidate will ensure compliance, commercial efficiency, and risk mitigation in alignment with contractual and corporate requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial / Business Development- Oversee and monitor external cost consultants preparation of payment certificates and variations.
- Collaborate with contract administrators and consultants to achieve commercially favorable project outcomes.
- Analyze project-related correspondence to identify and mitigate commercial risks.
- Review documentation to ensure contractor payments and variations are compliant with contract terms.
- Conduct and participate in cost control meetings to track budgets and ensure financial discipline.
- Represent the client in commercial meetings to maintain clarity and efficiency in information exchange.
- Ensure adherence to corporate procedures and governance frameworks.
- Oversee internal approvals and variation valuations for compliance and transparency.
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements.
- Ensure timely and on-budget project delivery with high quality standards.
- Conduct performance reviews (PDRs) and manage team development.
- Mentor and guide the commercial team to enhance accountability and performance.
Requirements
Education- Bachelor&aposs degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (Civil preferred) from a recognized institution.
- Emirati only
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience, including at least 7 years in the UAE or GCC region.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Oracle-based systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, and risk management abilities.
- Preference will be given to Western-educated professionals.
- Backgrounds in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Architecture are highly valued.
- Must be highly motivated, committed, and detail-oriented.
- Primarily office-based with site visits as required.
- Must be flexible with working hours during key project phases.
