About the role:
As the manager landing gear overhaul workshops you will develop internal capabilities and strategies, as well as overseeing the daily operations of the engineering landing gear overhaul workshop to support GCAA/EASA CAR145 maintenance organizations.Direct and supervise a team of certified engineers, technicians, and mechanics to guarantee that all tasks within the designated area are accomplished within established turnaround times and objectives, while ensuring adherence to the highest safety and regulatory standards to fulfill manufacturers' recommendations, legal obligations, and operational requirements in an efficient, productive, safe, and cost-effective manner.
What you will do- Develop Emirates Engineering landing gear in-house capability and strategy aiming to support EK fleet types for full in-house overhaul capability. Manage production functions of workshops to ensure optimum output and productivity levels to meet production deadlines, quality, and service standards. Ensure that workshop function is performed in adherence to quality control standards, ensuring all components are repaired, overhauled, and tested in accordance with the approved procedures of manufacturers to regulatory airworthiness standards.
- Responsible for expanding in-house capabilities within the overhaul workshop in collaboration with the MRO project team to fulfill airline requirements, minimize overall maintenance expenses, and improve turnaround times. Identify opportunities for enhancement and strategize the skill development of workshop personnel, ensuring they are suitably qualified and trained to achieve necessary approvals and certifications that support operations and elevate work quality standards. Aid senior management in identifying and negotiating with prospective partners to establish in-house landing gear capabilities at Emirates Engineering in Dubai, UAE.
- Responsible for workshop budget in terms of manpower, capital investment, and operational expenditure. Ensure that facility upgrades are in accordance with company growth and departmental requirements in line with the projected work scopes and section growth to ensure sufficient resources and tooling are available to meet the demand.
- Promote and implement a safety culture program within each work area ensuring best safety practices, compliance to procedures and enhance safety through training. The program should include staff safety meetings, briefings, walk arounds, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all team members are aware of, and adhere to, safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Identify areas for safety improvements and liaise with the relevant sections to implement changes to enhance the level of safety within workshops. As a safety champion, build and drive a culture that embraces safety first in the workplace and promotes safety management system (SMS) within the organisation.
- Identify and initiate remedial actions to audit findings. Accompany internal and external auditors as required and review audit findings to implement necessary corrective and preventative actions within the agreed timeline.
- Ensure necessary resources are available to meet demand whilst encouraging, identifying, and applying improvements to processes and equipment.
Qualification
To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:
- Degree in engineering (12+3 or equivalent) (aeronautical, mechanical) or holder of aircraft maintenance engineering licence - GCAA/EASA or holder of engineering apprenticeship or equivalent training in aircraft maintenance with a reputable airline or an approved aircraft maintenance organisation.
- Must hold relevant workshops and company approvals.
- 10 years experiences of Boeing and Airbus aircraft landing gears maintenance repair organisation (MRO) overhaul, with not less than 5 years in a management role which is in charge of all landing gears repair processes.
- At least 2 years repair capability experiences with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or repair agencies.
You'll have an edge if you are:
- Projects experience with OEM cooperation and/or negotiation.
- Project management experiences with crossing-departmental leadership.
- Conversant with NDT processes in landing gears.
- Conversant with plating processes used in landing gear component.
