Training Specialist – Waste Management

Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Training Specialist is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs to enhance employee performance, safety awareness, and operational efficiency within the waste management and environmental services operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify training needs across operational, technical, and support functions through assessments and stakeholder engagement
  • Design and implement training programs related to:
  • Waste management processes and best practices
  • Environmental compliance and regulations
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards
  • Equipment handling and operational procedures
  • Conduct onboarding and induction programs for new employees
  • Deliver classroom, on-site, and virtual training sessions
  • Develop training materials, manuals, SOPs, and e-learning content
  • Ensure all training aligns with local environmental regulations and company policies
  • Track and maintain training records, certifications, and compliance requirements
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external training providers when required
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote a culture of safety and sustainability

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, HR, or a related field
  • 3–6 years of experience in training and development, preferably within:
  • Waste management
  • Environmental services
  • Facilities management
  • Industrial or operational environments
  • Strong knowledge of HSE standards and environmental regulations
  • Experience in delivering technical and safety training programs
  • Certifications such as Train the Trainer, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are a plus
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work in field environments and interact with operational teams

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with blue-collar workforce training

  • Experience in the UAE or GCC market is an advantage
