CLINICAL RISK AND PATIENT SAFETY OFFICER
The Clinical Risk Officer supports the Clinical Risk Manager in the operational delivery of the clinical risk management program. They will assist in the implementation and monitoring of the effectiveness of the risk management program within American Hospital Dubai.Thus supporting organisational learning and ensuring American Hospital Dubai is meeting its regulatory and accreditation obligations.
Educational Requirements:
- Healthcare degree or equivalent professional qualification(current license preferred)
- Masters in Risk Management or related healthcare field preferred
- CPHQ and/or CPHRM preferred, achieving certification within one year of service.
Professional Experience/ Knowledge:
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience in an acute care setting
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience in Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety.
- Knowledge of managing clinical risk within a healthcare setting
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of investigation tools and techniques including root cause analysis
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Risk
- Problem solving skills with the ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands
- Participated in accreditationprograms and surveys
Specialized Skills:
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain and respect confidentiality
- Proficient in collating and analysing statistical and qualitative information
- Project management skills, with experience of implementing change projects
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a range of professionals
- Planning and organizational skills
- Ability to produce reports, action plans, both written and verbal
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support clinical teams use quality improvement methodology, contributing to improving the overall quality of patient experience.
- Undertake quality assurance reviews of clinical pathway/protocols and provide reports to Quality Manager
- Support the Quality Manager to enable, promote and support the effective use of data and information to improve, inform and support quality improvement projects and initiatives.
- Undertake information analysis and scrutiny on a range of complex data and information to provide concise and comprehensive reports on a regular and adhoc basis.
- Develop and maintain databases, facilitating collation and population of data ensuring that a comprehensive audit trail is maintained for all aspects of work, both electronically and in paper files.
- Assist clinical services to have in place mechanisms for reviewing, analyzing and validating quality data to facilitate project improvement and assurance activities.
- Provide advice and support in fostering and monitoring the safety culture within the organization and implements improvements.
- Support the planning, delivery and facilitation of training related to quality measures and improvement methodologies.
- Support team to provide timely, thorough investigations, reports and action plans.
- Support the Quality Manager in providing timely, validated reports on progress, including key performance indicators, in written and verbal formats to the organization and other groups as required.
- Provide reports and evidence as required to external bodies such as Dubai Health Authority.
- Deputize for the Quality Manager as needed.
- Attends key meetings in relation to Quality Improvement as needed.
