About the Opportunity
We're working with a well-funded, early-stage climate-tech venture operating at the intersection of ecology, AI, geospatial data and robotics.
The organisation is building large-scale, data-driven solutions to restore coastal, marine and arid ecosystems, with active projects already underway.
This is a hands-on, impact-driven role focused on applying science in real-world environments not just theory or policy.
The Role
We're looking for a biodiversity & conservation specialist to lead the design and execution of ecological surveys and restoration monitoring frameworks.
You'll play a key role in ensuring all ecological work is:
- Scientifically rigorous
- Statistically sound
- Operationally feasible at scale
What You'll Be Doing
Ecological Survey & Restoration Design- Design statistically robust ecological survey frameworks
- Define sampling strategies (replication, spatial distribution, unit size)
- Ensure methodologies are defensible and regulator-ready
- Lead ecological fieldwork in dynamic and challenging environments
- Adapt survey plans based on terrain, weather, and access constraints
- Maintain scientific integrity under real-world conditions
- Identify and validate flora and fauna in terrestrial and coastal ecosystems
- Classify habitats and interpret ecosystem dynamics
- Identify key, invasive, or protected species
- Establish data collection protocols and QA/QC systems
- Ensure accuracy, traceability, and consistency across datasets
- Translate field data into meaningful ecological insights
- Produce high-quality technical reports
- Translate statistical outputs into clear conclusions
- Communicate with regulators and multidisciplinary teams
What We're Looking For
Must-have:
- MSc or PhD in Ecology, Biology, or related field
- 10+ years of applied field ecology experience
- Strong expertise in ecological survey design + applied statistics
- Proven experience in ecosystem restoration and monitoring
- Strong knowledge of flora and fauna taxonomy
- Excellent technical writing skills
Nice to have:
- Experience in Gulf/Middle East ecosystems
- Exposure to arid, coastal or mangrove environments
- Arabic language skills
- Direct impact on large-scale ecosystem restoration
