Job Purpose
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Design Manager / Design Manager (depending over the experience) with a robust architectural background to lead the design and delivery of educational projects. This role requires a passion for design excellence, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
As a Senior Design Manager / Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in creating high-quality, functional, and sustainable learning environments. You will be expected to challenge your design thinking to push for optimal outcomes while ensuring technical accuracy and architectural integrity.A deep understanding of architectural detailing and technical delivery and understanding of local codes / compliances is essential. We are looking for a team player who thrives in fast-paced environments and consistently delivers high-quality work within project timelines.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design phase as the client&aposs primary representative, collaborating with internal and external teams.
- Coordinate with local and international consultants during design development.
- Work with design, commercial, and project management teams to implement client-driven changes.
- Ensure smooth coordination between design teams, consultants, and stakeholders, including operators and facility managers.
- Support site teams in resolving design-related issues and clashes promptly.
- Lead technical workshops, guiding consultants in review and approval of shop drawings while preserving design intent.
- Oversee mock-up reviews to ensure design quality and alignment.
- Conduct site and factory inspections to ensure design and quality standards are met.
- Drive design development through all stages: Concept, Schematic, Design Development, and Documentation.
- Integrate educational operational requirements into the design with internal and external collaboration.
- Manage design change control to minimize schedule disruptions and cost impacts.
- Resolve unforeseen coordination and interface issues across all design phases.
- Bachelors (or higher) in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field.
- Professional accreditation in Architecture preferred.
- 5 to 10+ years of architectural design and management experience in Architectural consultancy or client-side role.
- Proven experience in delivering education sector projects.
- Strong knowledge of architectural detailing, materials, and education design standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills for coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in procuring / managing design consultants and navigating stakeholder requirement to meet GSG vision.
- In-depth knowledge of design quality control and risk mitigation strategies
- Experience in educational facilities planning and space programming.
- Ability to assess constructability and sequencing in design documentation.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Suite).
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices and LEED/green building certification processes.
