Duties and responsibilities
Welding activities
Procedure verification: Review drawings (isometric/process), welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material specifications to ensure compliance with relevant standards.Material inspection: Inspect base materials, welding filler materials, welding gases, and verify welding equipment calibration and certification records.
Pre-welding inspection: Check fit-up, root gap, alignment, bevel angle, root face, joint cleanliness, filler material handling, temperature control, and other parameters as per the project requirements.
Welding monitoring: Monitor welding operations including pre-heating, root pass, hot pass, fill passes, heat input, inter-pass cleaning/dressing, and ensure adherence to approved welding procedures.
Inspection execution: Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of weld joints to ensure conformance to specified requirements.Inspection tools: Utilize all necessary inspection tools and instruments to perform inspection tasks accurately.
NDT coordination: Coordinate with NDT technicians and oversee required non-destructive testing (NDT) activities.
Client coordination: Liaise with client representatives and ensure their presence for inspections in accordance with the ITP (Inspection & Test Plan).
Documentation: Maintain detailed inspection records, document non-conformities, and prepare reports. Obtain signatures/approvals from all relevant parties as per the ITP.
Item release: Ensure all inspection activities and documentation are complete before releasing items for further processing.
Quality issue resolution: Collaborate with project teams to resolve quality issues and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions.
Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of welding codes (ASME, API, AWS, DNV), inspection procedures, and NDT techniques.
ADNOC standards: Familiarity with ADNOC standards, procedures, and specifications.
Problem-solving: Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve quality-related issues efficiently and effectively.
Painting/coating activities
Procedure review: Review project coating procedures, including surface preparation methods and material selection.
Material verification: Inspect incoming coating materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable standards, and proper storage conditions.Inspection: Perform visual and instrument-based inspections of surface preparation, surface temperature, coating application, and curing processes. This includes verifying dry film thickness (DFT), wet film thickness (WFT), and conducting holiday testing as per project Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
Pipeline coating inspection: Monitor activities such as blasting, buffing, salt testing, dust testing, surface temperature checks, humidity and ambient temperature monitoring, heat shrink application, holiday testing, and completion of relevant forms, in accordance with the project Inspection and Test Plan.
Compliance: Ensure all coating work is executed in accordance with project-specific procedures, standards, specifications, and relevant industry codes.
Documentation: Maintain detailed inspection records, prepare daily reports, and document any non-conformities.Coordination: Collaborate with project teams, construction personnel, and quality control staff to ensure proper execution of coating activities.
Reporting: Complete daily reports, identify and report non-conformities, ensure corrective actions are taken, and follow up on their implementation.
Client coordination: Liaise with client representatives and ensure their presence during inspections as per the ITP.
Quality issue resolution: Work with project teams to resolve quality issues and support the effective implementation of corrective actions.
Supervisory responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Coating inspector certifications (any of the following): BGAS Grades 3, 2, or 1
NACE Levels 1, 2, or 3
Welding inspector certifications: AWS (CWI/SCWI)
CSWIP (3.1 / 3.2)
Education
Bacheloru2019s degree in engineering or diploma in engineering
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of solid offshore experience in QC coating/welding inspection for ADNOC oil and gas projects.Proven track record in QC coating/welding inspection within the oil & gas or industrial sectors.
Additional experience in:
- Jacket installation
- Deck installation
- Hook-up activities
- Pipeline installation (pipelaying)
Working conditions
This position may be based onshore or offshore and is characterized by the following: Work may be conducted indoors or outdoors, during day or night shifts.
