Rotating equipment design engineer role

Location: Dubai (UAE)
Experience: 4 to 8 years
Industry: O&G, EPCM/PMC & FEED
Contract: One year with possible extension

Schedule: 5 days a week, 8 hours a day

Responsible for:

  • Equipment design & specification: Define and develop technical specifications, datasheets, and equipment selections for rotating equipment to meet process duty requirements.
  • Engineering calculations: Conduct equipment sizing, performance analyses, stress/vibration assessments, fatigue evaluations, and mechanical integrity checks.
  • Vendor management: Prepare inquiry packages, conduct technical bid evaluations, review vendor drawings and documentation, and act as technical liaison between vendors, clients, and internal teams.
  • Multidisciplinary coordination: Collaborate with process, piping, electrical, civil, and commissioning teams to resolve technical interfaces and ensure integrated design delivery.
  • Commissioning support: Provide technical input during installation, commissioning, and startup phases; support troubleshooting and performance validation on-site.
  • Standards compliance: Apply international standards (API 610/617, ASME, ISO, ANSI) to ensure design integrity and project specification conformance.
  • Technical documentation: Prepare P&IDs, datasheets, layout drawings, technical reports, and design calculations.
  • Knowledge sharing: Share technical insights, lessons learned, and best practices; support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualification & experience required:

  • Bacheloru2019s or masteru2019s degree in mechanical engineering (focus on rotating machinery).
  • Experience between 6-10 years in rotating equipment design within oil & gas EPC projects. Demonstrable onshore/oil & gas project experience especially in the Middle East is a plus.

Technical skills:

  • Proficient in rotating equipment standards (API, ASME, ISO).
  • Skilled in CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Bentley) and engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, MATLAB, vibration analysis tools).
  • Strong equipment sizing and equipment datasheet development abilities.
