Marine Technical Manager
Job Description
The role is responsible for assisting and supporting the Technical Director in all or some of the following tasks, as instructed by the superior:
Must be committed, compliant, and capable of executing tasks related to technical operations Liaise, coordinate, conduct and follow up with the stakeholders for the following:
- Ordering, receiving, replacing, and storing spare parts.
- Performance, Testing and analysis.
- Repair, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks.
- Onshore & offshore site visits.
- Coordination with internal and external auditors.
- Handling planned and unplanned inspections.
- Managing planned and unplanned dry docks.
- Close out class, client or other authority punch list.
- Reviewing inventory of spares, tools, and consumables.
- Dubai Technical, Iraq Technical team and crew duties.
- Technical team and engine room crew hiring interviews.
- Investigating of technical accident & incidents.
- Collecting and comparing subcontractor quotations.
- Vessel's fuel management system.
Ensure the success of the following:
- Complying with International Safety Management System (ISMS)
- Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Company's planned maintenance system (PMS)
- Complying with Company's Management System
- Having the right people in the right places
- Monitoring Based System (MBS)
- Inventory System (IS)

- Shall be based in Dubai, with regular site visits to JAK fleet onshore & offshore
- Conducting vessel's inspection or dock repair in UAE or globally as per natural vessel's operation area or docking place
- In contact 24/7 with the vessel in case of any major breakdown, attending the vessel during charter when necessary to give technical support.
- Liaising, coordinating, conducting, following up, updating, and performing any of the above-mentioned responsibilities.

- Accomplishment of company quality standard on board.
- Accomplishment of company objectives, policies and procedures.
- Complying with Class, client or other authority regulations and requirments.
- Maintaining contractors and subcontractor's records and database.
- Development and adding values to company & technical department.
- Providing SSDD scope of work within 4-6 months prior the class certificate due date.
Authority
The delegated authority is according to the direct superior instructions including but not specified to:
- Communication with technical team to achive technical department goals.
- Liaise and coordibate with contractors and subcontractors to achieve plans.
- Conduct investigation of technical accident & incidents.
- Conducting technical team and engine room crew new hiring interviews.

Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Marine School Diploma or Technical College Certificate or a combination of equivalent education, job related training and experience in a related position.
PMP certification (or) Lean (or) Six Sigma training will be advantage.
Completion of a 4 year Technical Apprenticeship, a recognized Marine Course or a certificate of competency (COC).
Experience:
Minimum 20 years of a comprehensive technical experience as follow:
- 10 years's experience in the rank of Chief Engineer onboard ships.
- 10 years of relevant conversion or a new build experience in marine /offshore industry/ shore based technical.
- Minimum 5 years in positions of managerial responsibilities.
- Internal auditing experience.
Skills:
- Possess advance working knowledge in technical, financial and project management activities(i.e. equipment installation, operation, maintenance, repair calibration and automation).
- Extensive knowledge and experience in relevant marine and offshore legislations, inspections standards, class rules requirements and industry codes.
- Ability to manage Profit & Loss, and generate annual budget plans.ma
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of customer impacts.
- Positive and solution-focused attitude with a clear goal based approach to problem solving.
- Strong negotiation, analitical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to influence and lead teams operating in remote locations without the need to maintain a continous presence.
- Ability to represent the Company and build relationships with regional management teams and develop solutions to their satisfaction.
