Duration: 3–6 Months (Extendable based on performance)
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Chemical / Process Engineering Intern to join our Process Safety & HSE Consultancy team. The intern will support ongoing consultancy projects related to process safety, risk assessment, HAZOP studies, loss prevention, and HSE compliance for oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, and industrial clients.
This internship provides excellent exposure to real-world engineering consultancy practices, international safety standards, and multidisciplinary project environments.
Key Responsibilities- Assist senior consultants and engineers in process safety and HSE studies.
- Support preparation of:
- HAZOP / HAZID reports
- Risk assessments and risk registers
- Process Safety documentation
- Fire & Gas detection layouts
- Emergency response and safety procedures
- Participate in data collection, engineering calculations, and technical report preparation.
- Review PFDs, P&IDs, process datasheets, and engineering documents.
- Assist in identifying process hazards and recommending mitigation measures.
- Support compliance reviews against international standards such as:
- OSHA
- NFPA
- API
- IEC
- ADNOC / local HSE requirements
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams when required.
- Maintain proper documentation and project records.
- Participate in client meetings, workshops, and safety reviews (where applicable).
Requirements
Education- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in:
- Chemical Engineering
- Process Engineering
- Safety Engineering
- or related discipline
- Basic understanding of:
- Process engineering principles
- Process safety concepts
- HSE regulations and standards
- Familiarity with:
- PFDs & P&IDs
- MS Office applications
- Engineering software/tools is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and report-writing abilities
- Eagerness to learn in a consultancy environment
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Internship/project exposure in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Industrial sectors
- Knowledge of HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, QRA, or LOPA concepts
- Familiarity with process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS (preferred but not mandatory)
- Hands-on exposure to Process Safety & HSE Consultancy projects
- Experience working with industry standards and engineering best practices
