Banking & Derivatives Lawyer - Fixed Term contract
We are seeking a Banking & Derivatives Lawyer to join our client in Dubai on a fixed-term 12 month in-house assignment. This role requires a technically strong and commercially minded lawyer with experience in derivatives, treasury, and structured finance.You'll work closely with internal teams across treasury, finance, and risk to support trading, hedging, and structured product initiatives, ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, CSAs, GMRAs, GMSLAs, and other derivatives and treasury documentation.
- Advise on hedging strategies, structured finance, and derivatives-linked lending transactions.
- Provide legal and regulatory advice on trading, margining, and netting issues, ensuring compliance with EMIR, MiFID, and UAE Central Bank requirements.
- Support the treasury and finance teams on FX, swaps, repos, and structured product transactions.
- Manage relationships with external counsel and financial counterparties to ensure efficient deal execution and risk mitigation.
- Assist in developing internal templates, governance frameworks, and policies around trading and derivatives compliance.
- 10+ years PQE, qualified in a common law or recognised international jurisdiction.
- Strong background in derivatives, structured finance, and treasury legal work
- Prior in-house experience within a bank, investment firm, or financial institution preference.
- Must have Islamic Finance experience.
- Experience with ISDA, GMRA, GMSLA, and related documentation essential.
- Familiarity with regulatory regimes such as EMIR, MiFID, CFTC, or DFSA advantageous.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
