JOB PURPOSE

The Process Safety Engineer ensures the safety and reliability of ADNOC Distribution operations by designing, implementing, and managing programs and processes related to Process Safety. This role involves evaluating and enhancing safety measures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and expanding the company's safety footprint.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Job Specific Accountabilities
  • Support the development and implementation of a robust process of safety management systems that comply with local and international regulations.
  • Participate in developing control measures to address inherent process safety requirements throughout the asset life cycle, from design to decommissioning and replacement.
  • Support HSE Impact Assessments and other process safety studies to ensure effective review.
  • Follow up on the implementation of process safety assurance programs to ensure all risks associated with asset operations comply with safety or HSE requirements to prevent/mitigate accidents/incidents.
  • Assist in monitoring process safety measures and performance indicators, recommending remedial actions to the Department Manager or Vice President to prevent or mitigate potential accidents/incidents.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g., Operations-Production, Operations-Maintenance, HSE) to verify that all processes required to maintain and demonstrate process safety are in place and implemented Highlight any non-conformity.
  • Participate in incident investigations, Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), HSE critical equipment & system technical verifications (TIV), Alarm Management, process safety audits ensuring that action or mitigating measures are implemented
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ADNOC and interational standards / guidelines.
  • Ensure that governance and reporting align with AIPS requirements and ADNOC-HQ directives.
  • Support process safety engagements and activities to ensure they are completed and comply with requirements.
  • Generic Accountabilities Supervision
  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
  • Budgets
  • Provide input for preparation of the Department/ Section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
  • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
  • Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
  • Implement approved Department / Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Department / Section's work programs in line with Company and International standards
  • Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
  • Performance Management
  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department / Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in intemal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best Industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
  • Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related discipline, with strong technical background in process safety.
  • Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • 6 years of experience, in process safety-related functions in an oil/gas or petrochemical environment
  • Working exposure to best practices in AIPS
  • Must be up to date with any applicable Process Safety intemational and local legislations
  • Must be up to date with applicable Health, Safety and Environmental international and local
  • With working knowledge and experience in Quality and HSE Management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Professional Certifications
  • Certification in Process Safety Professional or any relevant certifications preferred
