Job summary

Reporting to the Service Team Leader, the Service Technician will take responsibility for supporting and servicing all products and clients for NOV's Process & Flow Technologies business within the Middle East market. Your existing knowledge within electrical and mechanical servicing of pump products including reciprocating/centrifugal and/or progressive cavity pumps and chokes will be critical to your success in this role.

As Service Technician, you will liaise with internal stakeholders of our Dubai site and manage your daily, weekly, and monthly schedule in an efficient manner to maintain strong customer relations with the support we offer. Key to this role will be your ability to drive continual improvement processes, enhancing efficiency and performance within our industrial markets and delivering technically competent installations, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance support to our customers.

An ability to prepare and carry out product training and assist the sales team with technical queries will also be required as part of the role.

Ability to prepare spare parts list for quotes and customer support.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with NOV project teams and management, clients, and vendors relating to their allocated installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance activities.
  • Prepare, review, and approve work packs required for the above related activities.
  • Coordinate with on-site subcontract labour as required for above activities.
  • Undertake installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up operations of process plant in line with NOV procedures, including but not limited to:
  • P&ID walk downs
  • Mechanical completion checks
  • Factory acceptance tests
  • Training material preparation
  • Leak testing/pressure testing
  • Train operators and client personnel in use of process plant and equipment in line with NOV operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are being enforced and adhered to at all times.
  • Arrange services and work with all involved departments to meet needs of customers and production schedules.
  • Maintain contact with plant operational personnel to build long-term relationships and database of customer feedback.
  • Under management direction, provide after sales services including inspections, spares, advice/recommendations, liaising with engineering departments as necessary.
  • Be fully familiar and fully conversant with department and company policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times.
  • Provide HSEQ leadership ensuring personal compliance with legislation and company policies.
  • Regular travel to customer sites when required.
  • Carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager.
Experience, education, and skill-set required
  • 5-7 years field/service experience of one or more product lines.
  • Pump mechanical/electrical experience 5 years plus within installation, commissioning, servicing, and/or maintenance team environments.
  • Working knowledge and experience in reciprocating/centrifugal and/or progressive cavity pumps.
  • ONC/HNC/HND in relevant engineering. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Previous oil and gas experience in the Middle East.
  • Computer literacy including good command of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of industry standards.
  • Good written and oral communications.
  • Knowledge of local compliance requirements and laws.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
