Mechanism Design Engineer

Job Description

This role requires a blend of creativity, engineering rigor, and system-level thinking, similar to an integration engineer, but with a deep emphasis on mechanism design and problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and validate mechanical mechanisms (linear, rotary, gear systems, linkages, actuators, etc.) for aerospace and UAV applications.
• Perform conceptual design, mathematical modeling, and CAD simulations to evaluate mechanism feasibility and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with the integration team to ensure mechanisms fit seamlessly into the overall system architecture.
• Conduct tolerance analysis, kinematic/dynamic studies, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Produce detailed CAD models, assemblies, and technical documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for mechanism-related issues during prototyping and testing.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure high-quality production of custom mechanism components.
• Support testing and validation of mechanisms under operational conditions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanism and system-level design, preferably in aerospace, UAV, robotics, or automotive industries.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, dynamics, kinematics, and control of mechanical systems.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing of mechanisms.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods (machining, additive, composites, etc.).
• Strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities, with the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with integration engineering and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Exposure to finite element analysis (FEA) and motion simulation tools.
• Familiarity with actuation systems (servo, hydraulic, pneumatic, BLDC, etc.).
• Previous work in aerospace/UAV projects.
