Key responsibilities- Review procurement documents to ensure that welding related requirements have been correctly translated into purchase requisitions and design documents.
- Develop, review and approve vendor and site sub-contractor ITPs, QCPs, WPS and ITRs based on corporate standard.
- Coordinate with the customer's representative on all quality welding related matters.
- Coordinate for failure analysis and root cause analysis on welding related issues.
- Plan, conduct, track and report welding engineering investigations.
- Monitor welding procedure and welder qualifications.
- Verify that the welding related site activities are in accordance with the applicable codes and standards.
- Monitor and control of sub-contractor welding repair rate.
- Participate in the internal and external site audits.
- Control all non-conformance reports related to welding and undertake remedial action.
- Review the customer's specification and undertake relevant training to the site welding inspectors.
- Monitor the implementation of the approved site QC plan.
- Complete and coordinate the approval of the sites QC technical submittals related to welding to the customer.
- Assure all technical welding documents relative to site quality control are current status.
- Report major welding issues to corporate quality which need to be circulated as a quality alert.
- Familiar with fabrication of topside and jacket and DNV standards.
- Develop, review coating related ITPs, checklists, procedures for both supplier and site QMS.
- Should have experience in offshore renewable energy projects.
- Support coating acceptance testing, qualification testing, and troubleshooting efforts on assigned programs.
- Resolve technical issues as they arise during coating operations with assistance from manufacturer, engineering, and construction team; identify root causes of the problems using analytical techniques; provide clear and concise corrective action reports.
- Bachelor or master's degree in mechanical or metallurgy engineering or equivalent.
- International Welding Engineer (IWE), CSWP 3.2.2, NDT PCN Level 2 certifications.
- Certified European Welding Engineer (preferred).
- Minimum 15 years' experience as welding engineer preferably in oil & gas, offshore projects with coating experience an added advantage.
- Should have previously worked with major EPC contractor.
- Preferred certified NACE CIP Level-3 Coating Inspector or certified ICorr Level-2 Insulation Inspector.
