Job Description

Job Purpose:

Lead and manage quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management efforts within their assigned facility to ensure high-quality, safe, and effective patient care that complies with organizational standards and regulations by implementing quality strategies, overseeing clinical audits, managing incident reports, promoting infection control, and driving continuous improvement activities at the facility level.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Clinical:

  • Foster a culture of safety and quality among facility team members in collaboration with both facility leadership and the corporate Patient Safety and Quality Department to achieve optimal outcomes and maintain compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor facility-level clinical audits to ensure compliance with established clinical standards, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Analyze audit findings and identify trends for targeted improvement within the facility.
  • Implement and manage patient safety initiatives specific to the facility to reduce adverse events, promote a culture of safety, and encourage reporting.
  • Investigate patient safety events and lead root cause analyses (RCA) or similar processes at the facility level.
  • Serve as the primary contact for facility-level risk management activities, collaborating with the corporate risk management team to identify, report, investigate, and mitigate clinical risks, and to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) within the facility.
  • Conduct regular analysis and evaluation of stakeholders&apos expectations and needs in the clinical facilities, addressing challenges, identifying improvement opportunities, building strengths, and mitigating potential risks by providing current data and information, analyzing outcomes, and submitting reports to the Executive Director.
  • Supervise and oversee the facility&aposs infection prevention and control program, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and national/international standards, and lead or support initiatives to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) specific to the facility setting.
  • Support and facilitate CQI projects within the facility using evidence-based methods like PDSA, Lean, and Six Sigma to track progress, evaluate results, and maintain improvements.

Administrative:

  • Implement the quality strategy and objectives at the specific facility and align the facilitys quality goals with both corporate directives and operational needs.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the facility-level quality team and activities, and coordinate quality efforts across departments within the facility.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration by acting as a liaison between facility staff and the corporate Patient Safety and Quality Department.
  • Ensure the facility maintains compliance with relevant local, national, and international healthcare standards and regulations (e.g., licensing requirements, accreditation standards like JCI, ACHSI, etc.).
  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external assessments/audits specific to the facility.
  • Gather, analyze, and report facility-specific quality and safety metrics and performance data, and submit regular reports to the facility leadership and the corporate department. Identify opportunities for improvement and monitor progress on facility-level initiatives.
  • Ensure facility-wide compliance with corporate quality, safety, and risk management policies, procedures, and protocols, and review and update them as needed for facility operations.
  • Manage the facility-level budget allocation for quality-related activities and initiatives, ensuring the efficient use of resources and coordinating resource needs with the corporate department and facility administration.

Academic Teaching, Research/Scholarly Activity & Professional Development:

  • Plan, coordinate, deliver, or facilitate educational programs and training sessions related to quality, patient safety, infection control, and risk management for facility staff. Ensure staff competency in these areas.
  • Encourage support facility participation in quality improvement projects, research initiatives, or scholarly activities led by the corporate department or external partners and promote team members&apos engagement in learning opportunities.
  • Stay current with best practices in quality and patient safety.
  • Work with facility leadership and corporate teams (including potentially MBRU or other academic partners) to enhance quality and safety education and practices relevant to the facility.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Master&aposs degree in healthcare quality, Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Bachelor&aposs degree in healthcare or related field.

Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ Experience in healthcare quality improvement, patient safety, or risk management, preferably within a healthcare facility setting. Leadership experience is preferred.
  • 5-7 Experience in Progressive supervisory roles.
