Job Purpose

Assess quality assurance & quality control of drilling fluids and cement chemicals and additives to ensure the performance as per oilfield standards. Monitor and control quality assurance of all drilling and completion chemicals and brines . provide expert level support to well operation in drilling and completions fluids technology to ensure safe & cost-effective manner .

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)
  • Provide expert level drilling and completions support including but not limited to:
  • Drilling fluid
  • Completion fluid
  • Lost circulation solutions
  • Additives (corrosion inhibitor, oxygen scavenger, de-emulsifiers, anti-sludges, etc)
  • Relative permeability Modifiers
  • Fluid associated equipment (solids control, shaker screens, degassers, testing equipment. etc)
  • Drilling waste management solution
  • Inventory management on site (Drilling fluid chemicals & Bulk, Waste management, Cement chemicals & Bulk, etc)
Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 2)
  • Monitor and control quality assurance of all drilling, completion, and cement chemicals maintain proper QA-QC records.
  • Supervise the service provider LMP, WMS, Cement & Bulks area.
  • Carry out spot checks of chemicals in stores, supplier stores, service company stores & rigs and brines at the brine plant. Verify proper storage, handling & house-keeping procedures, HSE procedures and documents control are followed.
  • Monitor chemical consumption patterns and investigates any abnormalities. Establish quarterly chemical requirements based on planned types of wells.
  • Maintain checks on performance of Service Company formulations through wellsite lab pilot tests.
  • Investigate chemical quality discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Follow-up with suppliers to ensure compliance.
  • Involve in trouble-shooting drilling problems, suggest solutions and recommendations. Perform wellsite tests at the lab as required for trouble-shooting drilling problems.
  • Verify that proper sampling procedures are followed.
  • Monitor all HSE procedures are followed with respect to chemicals. Ensure usage of only environment friendly chemicals. Strive continually to reduce chemical waste and improve company's waste management procedures.
Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 3)
  • Perform periodical audits of supplier stores. This includes regular HSE & quality audits. Issue audit reports.
  • Provide fluids input in the Well Value Assurance process of planning the well, wherever required to improve fluid performance.
  • Review fluid reports, well recaps, end of well reports and phase reports. Monitor solids control equipment efficiency, analyse performance and make recommendations for their improvements.
  • Provide QA-QC support to Cement group as required. This includes liaising with lab, suppliers & service companies to improve quality, investigate failures, trouble-shoot problems, etc.
  • Keep abreast with latest developments in fluids/ chemicals, assesses technically service company's and chemical suppliers' new offers, implement trials and assesses trial results, introduce innovative products & procedures to improve drilling performance.
  • Work in line with HSE policy, awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations.
  • Ensures the best practices and lessons learned are incorporated in fluid program
  • Participates in operational meeting, well planning, task forces, workshops as needed

  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
  • Contributes to achieving the department objectives in an efficient and cost-conscious manner while ensuring implementation of approved operational plans for section in line with department objectives
Budgets
  • Provide input for preparation of the Department/ Section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
  • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

  • Implement approved Department / Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Department / Section's work programs in line with Company and International standards.
  • Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.

  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department / Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices
Reports
  • Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
  • Prepare end of well report and final inventory

Internal Communications & Working Relationships

Internal
  • Daily coordination with engineer/operation team leaders to discuss operational progress, planning, reporting, presentations, HSE issues and other operational matters.
  • Frequently contacts with other divisions at equivalent level to discuss and optimize performance.
  • Regular contacts with services & material engineers, tool services, supply& logistic team to ensure operation requirement is delivered on time.

External Communications & Working Relationships

External
  • Regular and frequent contact with suppliers, contractors and service providers for job planning and performance, reporting & evaluation KPI's.
Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor's Degree in chemical Engineer or equivalent.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills
  • Minimum 10 years of experience and knowledge of drilling fluid and completions/ work over fluids system and technologies including ERD.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in field operation (fluid &/or Cement) related drilling, completions and work over activities

Physical effort (climbing, walking & standing) is necessary while on wellsite operational areas and other company premises and facilities.
