Job Description:
We are looking for a highly skilled Petroleum Products Operator to manage the end-to-end operational cycle of petroleum product shipmentsfrom load port to final delivery. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in shipping operations, logistics, storage allocation, trade documentation, and an understanding of banking and trade finance procedures associated with physical commodity transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage FOB loading operations with strict adherence to contractual terms, operational efficiency, and HSSE standards.
- Oversee CFR delivery and discharge operations at destination ports, coordinating with agents, terminals, surveyors, and inspection companies.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute STS (Ship-to-Ship) operations safely and efficiently.
- Allocate, monitor, and optimize storage tank capacity while maintaining technical and quality compliance.
- Prepare, review, and manage all operational shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, cargo manifests, certificates of quality/quantity, NORs, and SOFs.
- Liaise with banks and internal finance teams on letters of credit, CAD transactions, and other trade finance instruments.
- Monitor voyage progress, maintain operational trackers, and issue voyage instructions as needed.
- Handle operational claims, demurrage, and post-fixture settlements.
- Maintain communication with the trading desk to provide timely operational insights and risk assessments.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Logistics, Maritime Studies, Trade, or related fields (preferred).
- 35 years operational experience in petroleum trading, shipping, or related sectors.
- Proven expertise in FOB, STS, and CFR petroleum cargo handling.
- Strong knowledge of storage terminal operations and tank allocation processes.
- Familiarity with banking and trade finance documentation for commodity shipments.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills across multiple time zones and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with operations/trading systems is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and resilience under pressure.
