Job Description

Responsible for technically supporting multiple databases that run company-wide business applications which are accessed by multiple departments.

• Review, develop, and design data models using standard diagramming techniques; create logical data models and translate into physical database structures that integrate with existing or proposed database structures.
• Monitor relational databases to optimize database performance, resource use, and physical implementations of databases; address a variety of database integration issues including migration between disparate databases, integration, maintenance/conversion, capacity planning issues, and new applications.
• Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance in technology and vendor selection.
• Conduct growth analysis and capacity planning and develop capital and operating budget proposals.
• Research, evaluate, install, configure, and troubleshoot all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives.
• Research and write responses to technical sections of requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposal (RFPs).
• Debug application and server performance issues, and monitor servers along with resident applications. Liaise with vendors on resolving the issues.
• Lead in administration and testing of datacenter backup, recovery, and disaster recovery technologies.
• Maintain currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems and create, procure, and maintain various database and systems related documents such as manuals and programmers handbooks.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned including 24-hour on-call support.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a medium to large environment.
• Industry certification such as Oracle Database 11g/12c administrator, MCP SQL Server, etc.
• Knowledge in Windows network environment is a big advantage (Windows servers, Active Directory, DNS, LDAP, DHCP).
• Experience in interpreting data models and developing database structures.
• Experience with various distributions of Linux and virtualization systems.
• Knowledge of systems growth analysis and capacity planning processes and techniques.
• Knowledge of data security and disaster recovery systems and procedures.
• Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system software.
• Experienced in hardware and software installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to develop and manipulate large, complex data sets.
• Ability to work on a scheduled 24-hour on-call basis.
