Job Purpose
To ensure compliance of marine assets with regulatory and legal standards, support the legal team in documentation, contract review, and risk mitigation, and coordinate with technical teams to streamline marine asset governance across the cluster.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
Assist the General Counsel with administrative matters related to vessels, companies, corporate services, and insurances.
Serve as a central point for managing original documents across the group.
Liaise with flag administrations, insurance providers, class societies, and other maritime regulatory bodies to maintain accurate and compliant documentation.
Draft basic legal and corporate documents such as resolutions and meeting minutes.
Collaborate with the legal team on urgent matters requiring legal input or supervision.
Engage with P&I Clubs and shipping insurers to manage policies, claims, and evaluations.
Support vessel valuation assessments for insurance and operational purposes.
Proactively suggest and implement claims resolution strategies.
Stay informed of commercial and legal nuances in the maritime sector to anticipate business and compliance requirements.
Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
Management and Research:
Maintain legal and asset documentation integrity.
Contribute to legal assessments related to maritime assets and operations.
Provide insights on insurance, regulatory compliance, and vessel management.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.Experience: 1- 4 years in the shipping industry, preferably with shipowners, trading houses, or P&I Clubs.
Certifications: Knowledge of corporate governance and maritime compliance standards is preferred.
Required Skills
Strong understanding of maritime insurance, vessel documentation, and regulatory bodies
Ability to draft corporate and legal documents
Excellent written and spoken English (other languages are a plus)
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Familiarity with UAE government processes is a plus
